FLORIDA NOTARY PUBLIC

An authorized notary public in the State of Florida will be familiar with the guidelines that govern permissible notarizations per statute X CHAPTER 117 and commissioned by the governor's office. The notary public has been licensed and bonded in order to receive a notary seal and commission certificate. As of January 1, 2020 remote notarizations are available for an already existing notary public to perform remotely and online, following newly placed  identification verification measures.

Florida Statue X chapter 117

Florida law has set forth measures for ensuring that notarial commissions are valid, and that each notarial seal must be placed in accordance with adherence to specific guidelines.

Properly identifying requesting parties, types of documents which may be notarized, and fee amounts allowable are just a few parts outlined in the governing chapter.

State issued IDs, passports, or two identifiable witnesses which contest to the requesting parties identification are acceptable. Some documents may not be notarized- primarily photographs. Notarization fees must not exceed $10, or, $25 for remote online notarizations.

Licensing Requirements

The Florida notary public must first be commissioned by the State once background checks have been cleared, and a bond has been presented for no less than $25,000.

Changes to a notary's name must be submitted, along with applicable forms and $25 within 60 days.

Commissions are valid for four years, assuming policies have not been infringed.

Remote Online Notarizations

Remote online notarizations are now accepted in the State of Florida, but appropriate requests and forms must be on file and in compliance with the Department of State.
